Delivering affordable stays at Crown land caravan and camping park (CLCPs) is essential to ensuring that all Victorians can enjoy the great outdoors.

As part of Victoria’s Great Outdoors, the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (formerly the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning) engaged a consultant to conduct an audit of the fees charged for stays CLCPs. The audit was to determine if fees charged by CLCPs were fair and reflective of the camping experience being offered.

The audit examined 175 CLCPs and reviewed their fees for:

  • unpowered sites
  • powered sites
  • cabins

Audit findings

The audit found the majority of CLCPs charge fees within a range of what could be expected compared to other parks with similar services and location.

The fees charged by CLCPs are largely fair and reflective of the camping experience being offered.
