About this walk
Whalers Lookout Walk is an easy loop track through native messmate forest. The walk leads to a lookout with spectacular views across Portland Bay, Narrawong and to the Southern Ocean beyond.
The Gunditjmara people, the Traditional Owners of the area, used this viewing point for many thousands of years. From here they could spot beached whales, which they harvested for meat and other byproducts.
The walk starts and ends at Sawpit Campground and picnic area, about 10 minutes drive from Narrawong. This campground is a great place to visit with kids, with other fun activities on offer like the Mount Clay mountain bike tracks.
