About this walk

This 3 km return trail starts at the Noojee Railway Station Precinct, where you will find car parking, interpretive information, picnic and toilet facilities, as well as a fully restored J-class steam locomotive.

The rail trail follows the historic old railway line, which operated between 1919 and 1954. Trains were primarily used to transport timber from the forests surrounding the timber-town of Noojee to nearby Warragul.

The trail passes through tall forest before arriving at the iconic Noojee Trestle Bridge, the tallest surviving wooden trestle bridge of its kind in Victoria. Wander down through the tree ferns to the bottom of the bridge to learn about the bridge's history and fully appreciate its scale in the landscape.

Follow the trail back the way you came to return to the Noojee township, where you can grab refreshments in town or visit the Noojee Heritage Centre (open at weekends and public holidays) to learn more about the history of Noojee.
