About this picnic area
Take a break at this delightful picnic area while exploring the nearby walks and attractions of Toolangi State Forest.
Toolangi State Forest is around 60 km north-east of Melbourne and known for excellent camping, bushwalking, picnicking, birdwatching and fishing.
The Traditional Owners of the forest are the Taungurung people, and the Wurundjeri people to the south.
Fuel up and head off
This grassy picnic spot sits against a backdrop of Mountain Ash forest. Enjoy a scenic lunch and then stretch your legs on one of the many forest walks close by, suitable for all skill levels.
From the picnic area you can access to the 10 km Tanglefoot Loop walk or the shorter Myrtle Gully Loop. A short drive will take you to the start of the Wirrawilla Rainforest Walk, a lovely walk through cool temperate rainforest.
You can also drive to the Kalatha Giant Tree Walk to a see one of the forest’s giants. A little further is the Toolangi Sculpture Trail, featuring environmental art made from natural resources.
