About this picnic area and walk
Strath Creek Falls is located in Mt Disappointment State Forest, 1.5 hours north of Melbourne.
This waterfall at Strath Creek has been popular with visitors for over 150 years. A short 45-minute return walk leads to amazing views of the falls cascading over the rock face and into the gully. The falls are best viewed after heavy rain.
Visit the picturesque falls then stop for a picnic, a quiet spot among wildflowers at the top of the falls trail. This area overlooks the grand Strath Creek valley below.
Keep an eye out for local wildlife.
While in the forest, make sure to check out other recreation opportunities including bushwalking, mountain biking and horse riding.
Mt Disappointment State Forest is the traditional land of the Kulin nation. The Wurundjeri tribe looked after the land in the south and the Taungurung tribe looked after the land in the north.
