About this picnic area
Long Lead Picnic Area is 4.5 hours west of Melbourne near the SA border and 20 minutes from Casterton. This shaded picnic spot is in the Nangeela State Forest, a beautiful area to explore.
Enjoy your surrounds of dense stringybark forest and gorgeous wildflowers in spring.
The forest is home to many bird species. Look out for endangered red tail black cockatoos.
