About this picnic area

Jack Cann Reserve is located in Blackwood, only an hour from Melbourne where you can immerse yourself among towering messmate stringybark and remnant pine trees.

The reserve is a great location for small groups or solo walkers to enjoy a bite to eat before or after your walk. Two picnic tables and a unisex toilet are available.

Jack Cann Reserve is in the heart of the Wombat State Forest and is the starting point for multiple signposted walking trails.

The Lederberg Heritage River Walk is a challenging 9 km return walk. Traverse through mixed eucalypt and ferny gullies as you take in the views of the Lerderderg River.

Whipstick Loop Walk is a 6km loop that covers part of the Great Dividing Trail and Simmons Reef goldmine.

The reserve is situated opposite the Garden of St Erth. This historic property has a charming garden and café which you can enjoy after your walk.
