About these trails
Just over 3 hours’ north-east of Melbourne and close to Beechworth, Albury and Wodonga, you’ll find the quaint town of Yackandandah – or Yack, as it’s known to locals.
The Yack Tracks trailhead is 4.5km from Yackandandah in the Stanley State Forest. It’s a purpose-built network of more than 50km of singletrack featuring easy to intermediate-level trails. There are also unpowered camping areas suitable for tents and camp trailers at nearby State forest campgrounds. You can find out more about these sites and their facilities on the More to Explore app.
A ride for every ability
The trailhead starts at a small picnic area next to the creek, where you’ll find scattered tables and grassed areas. Enjoy extended cross-country trails that are both low profile and low impact. The central Shack Loop is an easier 5km loop, while most of the other trails are suitable for more experienced riders.
The rides include some moderate climbs followed by flowing descents. This area is rich with gold mining history. Look out for old mining races, gullies and tailings as you ride.
Pick your trail
There are 4 main loop tracks with long gentle climbs and fast flowing descents and catering to riders of all levels. Most tracks feature remnant's of the region's mining history.
