About this tour

This 34km easy forest drive showcases the beauty of the great forests of East Gippsland. The tour takes around 2 hours to complete and is along gravel roads however is not recommended for 2WD vehicles when wet.

You'll start your journey just off the Princes Highway at the Murrungowar Picnic Area, about 17km east of Orbost. It finishes back on the Princes Highway, 14km east of Orbost.

Take in stunning scenery as you drive through a range of forests types, providing an insight into how the forests of East Gippsland are managed for both conservation and timber harvesting.

There are opportunities to stop and stretch your legs along the way. The first is only about 15 minutes away from the starting point at Little Cabbage Tree Creek Falls, an enjoyable half hour return walk to a waterfall. The second is the Falls Creek Memorial Walk toward the end of the route, an easy 800m return walk through stringybarks and fern gullies.
