This campground is accessed along an unsealed road which is suitable for 2WD vehicles most of year, but can become very rough and slippery during wet periods. Care should also be taken as cattle graze in this area and often wander onto the road and into camping areas.

About this campground

Yurluk Campground is in a lightly timbered flat area on the bend of the Buckland River. Located around 22 km from the Buckland Bridge, it's the perfect location for those who enjoy a more remote experience in a natural bush setting.

The site is best suited to 4WD and smaller camping setups, with several different areas to choose from. A narrow foot track adjacent to the river connects camping sites and provides good access to a range of swimming holes and wading pools.

Yurluk means broad-leaved peppermint (Eucalyptus dives) in Taungurung language, with this tree species being present throughout the campground. The site was named in consultation with the Taungurung Land and Waters Council, the Registered Aboriginal Party for the area.

Base yourself at this peaceful site and explore all that the Buckland Valley and nearby Alpine National Park has to offer, including four-wheel driving, fishing and bushwalking.
