About this campground
Located approximately 2 hours northeast of Melbourne and close to Eildon, the Big River State Forest offers prime camping, bushwalking, picnicking, fishing and kayaking opportunities.
Taponga is the first of the lower Big River campsites along the Taponga River. It offers a tranquil, shaded haven under a canopy of trees and is perfect for fishing or unwinding to the soothing sounds of the river over granite rocks. Toilet facilities are available.
Nearby campgrounds in the area include Horseshoe Bend, Jim Bullock and Pines.
