Stringybark Creek camping area
Not far from the walk you’ll find the Stringybark Creek camping area, an open and grassy area surrounded by native trees.
Campsites here vary, with some nestled in the tall trees and others in the open which are great for groups and get plenty of sun. The campground has a large, cleared area suitable for playing ball games or flying kites. The nearby day visitor area provides picnic and wood BBQ facilities.
This area is home to many bird species, making it ideal for keen birdwatchers. It's also a great spot for fishing.
Stringybark Creek Historic Loop
Head off on the Stringybark Creek Historic Loop to get your dose of local history. It was here that the infamous Kelly Gang shot and killed 3 police officers in 1878. This track visits the key sites of this event, with informative signs providing details of what took place. The loop is about 1.5km and takes under an hour to complete, crossing small creeks and winding through large trees along the way.
