About this campground
Store Point Hut is a scenic and remote site along the Aberfeldy Backroad 4WD Tour - Donnelly's Creek Loop.
The site features a tin hut and grassy clearing for camping and is an excellent spot to base yourself here for some bushwalking or to explore the region’s gold mining history. The hut was built in the 1970s by the holder of a nearby mining lease and was restored to its current state after being damaged in the 2013 Aberfeldy bushfire.
The hut has a cosy indoor fireplace and outside there are fire pits, picnic tables and a toilet.
Store Point was once a township established for the Donnellys Creek gold mining boom in the 1860s.
The Store Point Historic Loop Walk starts from the southern end of the campsite and takes in the Store Point Burial Ground and schoolhouse site.
The Morning Star Walk is nearby and starts off nearby Middle Star Track. This walk takes you to the historic Morning Star Waterwheel and the Crinoline Mine site where you can still see a Cornish boiler.
Please look after our historic huts by following the High Country Huts Code.
