Water from nearby creek must be boiled prior to drinking.
Please note: the roads leading into Rocky Ned are unsealed and for most of the year are suitable for two-wheel drive vehicles, however access to the site may be slippery in wet weather.
There is limited phone reception available at this location, so please plan accordingly.
About this site
Surrounded by native forest, this campground offers the perfect location to pitch a tent or set up the camper trailer, with opportunities to explore the forest on linked walking tracks. Base yourself at this peaceful location so you can explore the hidden gems of the Strathbogie State Forest.
Rocky Ned
This is the main campground and day visitor area in a shady forest setting. This site caters for day visitors with basic amenities including fire pits, picnic tables, picnic shelter and drop toilet and a linked walking track to the nearby waterfall.
The site also caters for campers with dedicated fire pits, space for pitching a tent or bays in which to set up your camper trailer.
Rocky Ned Camp 2
About one kilometre from this main visitor area, there is also a small and compact campground (Rocky Ned Camp 2) with no toilet and few amenities (only 2 fire pits). This is suitable for self-sufficent campers with portable toilets and is accessible further north along Rocky Ned Track.
Rocky Ned Falls Walk
Starting at Rocky Ned day visitor area, this short walk crosses over and then follows Rocky Ned Creek for views of Rocky Ned Falls. Along the way take your time to explore the granite boulder formations and take in the views looking north across the Lima East valley.
