About this campground

Meringtons Campground sits on the doorstep of the Victorian High Country, in the heart of an area rich in gold mining heritage.

Located on Meringtons Flat, this large, open campground was once the house site of Dick Merington, a local butcher, mining expert and cricket legend.

Large campsites can accommodate both caravans and camper trailers, while smaller sites are suitable for tent and vehicle-based camping.

The site also boasts excellent facilities including a large picnic shelter, communal fire pits, toilets and an abundance of picnic tables.

Located at the start of the popular Aberfeldy Back Road 4WD Tours, this campground is the perfect place to base yourself for a few days of exploring the local area.

A popular self-guided 4WD tour is Donnelly’s Creek Loop.

This tour takes in several huts, historic sites and relics, including the historic and popular gold-era township of Walhalla.
