About this campground

Located near the junction of the Aberfeldy River and Donnellys Creek, this site once housed several huts which were used as a base for gold fossicking and exploring the bush during the Great Depression of the 1930s.

In 1964, a new hut was constructed overlooking the Aberfeldy River. Sadly this hut, along with several others in the area, perished in 2013 in the devastating Aberfeldy bushfires. The Junction Hut was re-built in 2015 in partnership with local volunteers and contractors and provides shelter and a small fireplace for visitors.

As well as the hut, the site also includes several firepits, picnic tables and a toilet. Camping is also available a short walk from the hut and is an excellent place to base yourself while exploring the Aberfeldy Backroad 4WD Tour - Donnellys Creek Loop.

Please look after our historic huts by following the High Country Huts Code.
