About this campground
The original Jorgenson Hut was built in the 1950s by a World War II veteran and prospector, Don Scharlemann, who had a mining lease there. It was 1 of 4 huts destroyed in the 2013 bushfires and the new hut was buiIt in 2015.
Surrounded by hilly forest on a bend of Donnellys Creek, the hut is a beautiful place to stay overnight as you explore the area.
The hut can accommodate 6-8 people, however the site is also accessible to camper trailers and has space for tent-based camping. A communal fire pit is in front of the hut with rock seating and there are multiple picnic tables and a toilet for day visitors.
Visitors can explore more of the area by continuing along the Aberfeldy Backroad 4WD Tour - Donnellys Creek Loop.
