Hike in campground, accessed via the Ada Tree walk or along the Walk into History.
No toilets are available. Water can be collected from the Ada River using a linking track that leads to a pier/collection point. Water should always be boiled before use.
Overview
The Federal Sawmill dominated the timber industry in the greater Warburton area from 1935 to 1949. Although a few relics can be found near the campground, those continuing along the Walk into History will see further evidence of the extensive historical timber industry from this era, including the stumps of colossal trees, boilers, winches, and old sections of the tramline.
The campsite features tent platforms, a shelter with picnic tables and fire pits for hungry hikers to cook their food and warm up for the night ahead.
The area is surrounded by mountain ash forest and cool temperate rainforest. Keep your eye out for an array of special Australian natives, including lyrebirds, yellow tail black cockatoos, gliders, possums, and owls.
