About this campground
Carters Mill Camping Area is surrounded by native forests offering ample shade during the warmer summer months and is a tranquil spot to spend a relaxing day or two.
If you're looking to get active, the campground is the starting point for the Plain Creek Loop walking track which also link to the Plain Creek Tramway Bridge Walk for those wanting a longer walk. The Plain Creek Waterfall Walk and Tomahawk Hut are also a short drive away.
This area is full of rich history, with the site being the original location of the Carter & Co. Sawmill built in 1937 to mill timber from the surrounding forest. The sawmill was sadly destroyed by fire in 1965.
